On April 4, 2017, local time in Indonesia, the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract is signed in Jakarta, Indonesia for the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway jointly built by China and Indonesia enterprises. It is reported that, as the member enterprise of the consortium, CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. will provide 11 sets of 8-car high-speed EMUs with the speed of 350km/h for Jakarta-Bandung High-speed rail.
The EPC contract is signed by the representatives of KCIC and HSRCC. Mr. Xie Feng, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia and Teten, Director of President Office, Indonesia, attended the signing ceremony and witnessed the important moment together.
The Jakarta-Bandung High-speed railway project is performed by Chinese and Indonesian enterprises based on the B2B cooperation mode. The Chinese Consortium including railway design, construction, railway equipment and operation, led by China Railway, cooperated with the Indonesian enterprise consortium led by Wika. The technology and equipment of China high-speed trains as well as the extensive experience in construction and management are adopted for the project. It is the first “Going Global” of China’s standard of high-speed trains.
The high-speed trains for this project will be provided by CRRC Sifang, a member of HSRCC, covering 11 sets of 8-car high-speed EMUs with the speed of 350km/h. It will customize designed for Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway in combination with the local tropical climate and human culture.
It is the first high-speed railway of Southeast Asia, with the whole length of 142km for the first phase, connecting Jakarta (Capital city) and Bandung (the fourth biggest city). The maximum design speed is 350km/h. It is planned to open for service in three years. At that time, the journey time between Jakarta and Bandung will be reduced from over 3 hours to 40 minutes. Upon completion of this project, it can bring great convenience to people’s travel and can effectively relieve the traffic pressure between Jakarta and Bandung, optimize the investment environment, drive the business development and tourism industry along the line, accelerate developing the high-speed railway economic corridor, promote the economic and social development of Indonesia, and benefit the Indonesia people.
