CRRC Times Electric showcased a range of core offshore engineering equipment and solutions at the 2026 China Marine Economy Expo, held from October 22 to 24.

At the exhibition, CRRC unveiled its new heavy-duty subsea chain trencher, attracting considerable attention. Featuring a design that eliminates the need for buoyancy materials, the robot has a high submerged weight and strong resistance to ground reaction forces. It is designed to operate at depths of up to 3,000 meters, offering potential for deployment in deep-sea and far-offshore environments. With a maximum soil-breaking capacity of 690 kPa, it can cut through hard clay and weathered soft rock. Other exhibits included the Quasar medium-sized work-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV), an underwater robot simulation and control cabin, and core ROV components.

During the exhibition, the company’s expert team also delivered several technical presentations, showcasing CRRC’s innovations in trenching technology and subsea pipeline and cable detection and tracking systems, among other areas. Experts highlighted that CRRC SMD Shanghai’s electric work-class ROV incorporates key technological advances in high-voltage DC power supply for deep-sea operations and fully electric propulsion. The vehicle can operate at depths of up to 6,000 meters. Featuring an all-electric propulsion system, it is approximately 20% lighter than conventional hydraulic ROVs while maintaining stable and precise performance even in complex ocean-current conditions.
