Ten “VELFORCE” battery-powered locomotives built by CRRC Ziyang for Maanshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. (Masteel) rolled off the production line in Ziyang on October 19.

The CN10A-C battery-powered standardized new-energy locomotive is a representative model in CRRC’s standardized new-energy locomotive series. It is specifically designed for shunting and short-distance transfer operations within steelworks. With a power output of 1,000 kW, the locomotive uses a traction battery as its power source and offers zero emissions, low noise, high reliability, and intelligent maintenance capabilities. It is also equipped with an intelligent energy management system and a remote maintenance platform, enabling real-time monitoring of operating conditions, precise energy consumption management, and early fault warnings.

CRRC’s VELFORCE series of new-energy locomotives features three power configurations: diesel engine + power battery, power battery, and hydrogen fuel cell. The series covers power ratings from 1,000 kW to 2,000 kW. To date, CRRC Ziyang has supplied VELFORCE locomotives to customers in the port, mining and industrial, and steelmaking sectors. The locomotives have demonstrated stable and reliable performance, delivering significant benefits in carbon emissions reduction and operating cost savings, and earning widespread customer recognition.
