Recently, CRRCs Lingfeng wind turbine was successfully installed at a test site in North China.

Lingfeng is an ultra-high-power onshore wind turbine platform independently developed by CRRC for the Gobi and desert areas. It offers flexible power ratings from 11MW to 14MW, with a rotor diameter expandable to up to 250 meters. Specifically, the prototype installed has a rated capacity of 12.5MW and a rotor diameter of 242 meters. Based on an average wind speed of 7.5 m/s, a single unit is expected to generate approximately 38 million kWh annually, equivalent to saving about 15,000 tonnes of standard coal equivalent and reducing 36,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.

The Lingfeng prototype delivers single-unit intelligence and wind-farm-level collaborative control. It features an integrated dust-proof and surface protection system in response to the harsh Gobi and desert environment, characterized by sandstorms, wind erosion, and strong UV radiation. The turbine also demonstrates high grid adaptability, operating consistently in complex conditions with intricate grid structures, significant line impedance variations, and frequent load fluctuations.

Lingfeng has undergone more than 1,000 rigorous ground tests and is now set to enter the next phase of field testing.
