Recently, a cross-border freight train carrying tropical fruits arrived in Nanning, China, from Dong Dang Station in Vietnam. The train adopted an upgraded “8+1” refrigerated container configuration, replacing the conventional “4+1” model. Under the new configuration, a single railway power supply unit provides electricity for eight refrigerated containers simultaneously. According to the logistics operator, the upgraded solution reduces logistics costs by several hundred yuan (CNY) per container.
The “8+1” refrigerated container solution features a railway power supply unit and 40-foot railway refrigerated containers, both independently developed by CRRC Yangtze Group. The power supply unit integrates multiple monitoring and control sensors to continuously track the operating status of the diesel generator set and transmit real-time data to an operation and maintenance platform, enabling unattended operation while ensuring a stable power supply throughout long-distance cold chain transportation. The 40-foot railway refrigerated containers are equipped with China's first fully domestically developed railway refrigeration unit specifically designed for refrigerated containers. Capable of operating reliably in ambient temperatures ranging from -40°C to 50°C, the system meets the requirements of multimodal transportation across rail, road, and waterway networks.
CRRC's cold chain equipment effectively reduces cargo losses and transportation costs in cross-border logistics, providing strong support for the high-quality development of China's modern cold chain logistics industry.
