The FXD2BA electric locomotive is a freight locomotive independently developed by CRRC Datong Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CRRC Datong") in response to the national demand for accelerating the implementation of an innovation-driven development strategy. It is based on the principles of intelligence, sustainability, and efficiency, aiming to accelerate the establishment of a new development pattern and promote high-quality growth. The locomotive integrates the latest technological achievements, upgrades manufacturing processes, deeply realizes interconnectivity and component standardization, and enhances the locomotive's level of intelligence. This "Fuxing" freight electric locomotive is designed in line with Chinese national standards, railway industry standards, and group enterprise standards, meeting the strategic development needs of the transportation sector in areas such as "intelligence, sustainability, digitization, informatization, and interconnectivity" as outlined in the national strategy for building a strong transportation nation.
In order to continuously deepen the Fuxing brand strategy and promote the FXD2BA electric locomotive technology, the locomotive axle weight will be covered down to three types of axle weights: "30t, 27t, and 25t". It can meet the demand for hauling freight trains on heavy-haul railway lines with an axle load of 25t and above in China.
1.Large axle load system integration technology: The heavy-duty AC drive electric locomotive with the largest axle load and single-axle traction force at home and abroad has expanded the range of electric locomotive products.
2.Locomotive traction performance technology: The locomotive achieves a traction power at wheel rim of 9,600 kW, resulting in a significant improvement in traction performance as the axle load increases. With a 30t axle load, the starting traction force reaches 910 kN, and the continuous traction force is 691 kN. It is currently the heavy-duty freight electric locomotive with the heaviest axle load and single-axle tractive force both domestically and internationally. The locomotive can haul an 8,000t train with a single unit, achieving more than a 20% improvement in transport capacity compared to existing HXD 25t axle load eight-axle electric locomotives. The transportation capacity is increased by more than 20%. Through the research on the compatibility of the traction drive system, the speed is continuously reduced to 50 km/h, expanding the range of constant power continuous operational speeds, thereby better meeting the operational handling requirements of heavy freight trains.
3.Technology for adapting to haze environment: In order to reduce the probability of fog (pollution) flashover failure of locomotives in haze weather, two anti-fog flashover design technologies are innovatively adopted. One is the roof high-voltage box + top cover insulating paint anti-fog flashover technology, and the other is the machinery room network side cabinet + insulating top cover anti-fog flashover technology. It can effectively avoid that the insulation capacity of high-voltage equipment is reduced due to haze; it improves the use environment of roof high-voltage device, strengthens the anti-fog (pollution) flashover capability, and improves the wide-area serviceability of the vehicle under harsh conditions.
4.Adaptability technology for heavy axle load locomotives: To address the harsh operating conditions such as large load applications and significant longitudinal impact forces under high axle loads, the integral bearing modular body with the highest longitudinal load in China has been developed and the B0 bogie with flexible coupling nose suspension was developed for the first time in China.
5.High-torque traction motor technology: A traction electric drive system with the largest single-axle traction force was developed firstly, and a high-torque traction motor with leading torque density technical indicators in the industry was developed to ensure the normal operation of the main drive system performance under heavy load conditions. The torque transmitted by the traction motor is 20% higher than that of traditional traction motors.
6.Interconnectivity technology: The first domestic realization of external multiple operation between locomotives of different platforms allows interconnectivity, mutual control, and component interchangeability across six major aspects with 65 items. This lays the foundation for creating a series of railway locomotives in China that possess interconnectivity, component interchangeability, and broad compatibility.
