920 kW Hydrogen-powered AC Drive Modified locomotive

  The 920 kW hydrogen-powered AC drive modified locomotive is a verification project for the remanufacturing of old diesel locomotives, and it is the first hydrogen energy transformation project of diesel locomotive in China. The locomotive takes the DF4B locomotive to be scrapped as the carrier, basically retains the original bogie, body underframe and cab steel structure, and is upgraded and reconstructed in combination with reengineering technology and new energy technology, thus achieving the effects of energy saving, zero emission and low noise.

Application Scenario

  The 920 kW hydrogen-powered AC drive modified locomotives are mainly used for shunting and transfer operations in locomotive depots, rolling stock depots, marshalling yards and factories, mines, ports and other places with discontinuous electrification. Through the optimization of the power system, the output at wheel rim power level of 2,000 kW can be realized to meet the shunting and transfer operation requirements under most working conditions.

Key technologies

  1.Reengineering technology: China's first locomotive transformed from a diesel locomotive to hydrogen energy, upgrading and reconstructing the power system, transmission system and control system of the locomotive, and optimizing and improving the body, running gear and cab of the locomotive.

  2.High-power hydrogen fuel cell system technology: The highly integrated high-power hydrogen fuel cell system is adopted, and it is the world's first hybrid locomotive with hydrogen fuel cells as its main power. The hydrogen storage capacity is up to 270 kg, which is the largest single-machine hydrogen storage capacity in the world.

  3.Rapid hydrogen refueling technology: In order to meet the requirements of users for rapid servicing, the locomotive features high-speed hydrogen refueling receptacle and multi-nozzle synchronous hydrogen refueling technology, which can realize the goal of filling hydrogen from the minimum capacity to full hydrogen in the shortest time of 2 hours.
