CRRC Datong Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CRRC Datong") has taken the lead in carrying out application research of permanent magnet direct drive technology on high-power electric locomotives at home and abroad, and developed the first high-power permanent magnet direct-drive electric locomotive for passenger operations in China. The locomotive adopts "permanent magnet motor + direct drive mechanism" to replace the traditional "asynchronous motor + gearbox drive mechanism", which is characterized by high efficiency, energy saving, environmental protection and long maintenance period.
The application of permanent magnet direct drive technology improves the drive efficiency of high-power electric locomotives. The direct drive wheelset drive system has no gearbox assembly, which improves the reliability and maintainability of the drive system. The direct drive coupling is simple in structure, convenient for assembly and disassembly, and maintenance-free as a whole. After the technical achievements are fully mature, they will be popularized and applied to the international and domestic locomotive markets. This type of locomotive is completely independent in design, and CRRC Datong has completely independent intellectual property rights. The successful application of this type of locomotive will make the technical level of China's high-power electric locomotive reach the international leading level. It is another major technological leap after replacing DC drive with AC drive, and leads the technical development direction of rolling stock in the future.
Permanent magnet direct drive technology combines the permanent magnet traction motor and direct drive mechanism together, replacing the traditional asynchronous motor gearbox drive mechanism. Its advantages are mainly reflected in high efficiency (vehicle test efficiency reaches above 0.9), good maintenance performance (maintenance-free during C6 maintenance of drive unit) and environmental friendliness (no consumables such as gear oil and rubber parts, and lower noise).
