On April 28, “The Win-Win Journey of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway” China-Indonesia Friendship Stories Exchange Event was held at CRRC Eco-Connect Center in Jakarta, Indonesia. Representatives from government agencies, enterprises, think tanks, media outlets, and associations from both countries gathered to share inspiring stories about the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway and discuss friendship and future cooperation prospects.
As a flagship project of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway has transported more than 15 million passengers since entering service over two years ago. With its stable and reliable operation, the railway has become an important travel option for Indonesian people while driving coordinated development in the economy and the cultural tourism industries along its route. At the event, representatives from both countries praised the achievements of this partnership, agreeing that the project not only improves Indonesia’s modern transportation system, but also strengthens the foundation for bilateral strategic cooperation, and embodies the spirit of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Representatives from various sectors shared their stories of cooperation and friendship. For example, Zhang Fangtao, chief designer of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway EMUs at CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., was invited to introduce CRRC’s customized R&D approach. Incorporating Indonesian local characteristics and integrating green, low-carbon, intelligent, and safety-oriented design concepts, the team developed the Whoosh high-speed train tailored to local conditions. To date, the train has safely covered more than 7.3 million kilometers, showcasing the strong capabilities of China’s rail transit equipment manufacturing industry through its outstanding performance.
