In 1969, the Ministry of Railways established the factory.

In 1974, the factory went into production and the first traction motor at 410kW was produced.

From 1983 to 1986, the manufacturing technology of GE traction motors and electrical appliance and Hitachi subway chopper technology were introduced.

In 2002, Yongji Factory was put under CNR's administration.

In 2007, Yongji Factory was reorganized and restructured as Yongji Xinshisu Electric Equipment Co., Ltd.

In 2009, Yongji Xinshisu Electric Equipment Co., Ltd. was listed on stock market along with China CNR.

In June 2015, Yongji Xinshisu Electric Equipment Co., Ltd. became one of the members of CRRC.

In Jan. 2016, Yongji Xinshisu Electric Equipment Co., Ltd. renamed CRRC Yongji Electric Co., Ltd.

In 2017,CRRC Yongji Electric Co., Ltd developed the China's first 4500HP high-power fracturing equipment plunger pump electric drive system and fill the domestic blank.

In 2018, CRRC Yongji Electric Co., Ltd developed three main series products of squirrel-cage, double-fed and permanent magnet that the power range could cover from 600KW to 7.6MW, which marks Yongji Electric has been the largest wind power matched company in China.

Currently, Yongji Electric covers an area of 1,176,000 square meters with a construction area of 734,000 square meters. Three comprehensive parks, Corporate Function Park, Electrical Industry Park and Green Energy Park, have been set up in Xi'an. Furthermore, Yongji Electric has four subsidiaries and three joint venture companies in Xi'an.
