On June 11, the standard new energy locomotive developed by CRRC Ziyang was delivered and put into operation in Kazakhstan, where it will undergo EAC certification based on China's new energy locomotive technical standards. This marks the first international adoption of China's new energy locomotive standards as certification criteria, offering a significant contribution to the upcoming Second China-Central Asia Summit.
At 9:30 a.m. local time, the launch ceremony was held at Almaty Station, witnessed by Umbetov Assan, Deputy General Manager of the locomotive business of KTZ, Zanyazov Nurem, Manager of the Almaty Freight Branch of KTZ, and Suo Xuesong, Project Authorized Representative and Deputy General Manager of the Overseas Dept. of CRRC Ziyang. Umbetov Assan said in his speech that the CKD6H hybrid locomotive would significantly improve the green equipment level of Kazakhstan's railways and inject new impetus into the country's low-carbon railway transportation. Amid warm applause, the guests jointly pressed the start button, and this "green envoy" carrying the friendship between China and Kazakhstan whistled and set off.
The standard new energy locomotive developed by CRRC Ziyang rolled off the production line in Sichuan's Ziyang on May 20. Designed specifically for 1,520mm broad-gauge markets, this locomotive is suitable not only for Kazakhstan's railway transport but also meets the needs of other Central Asian countries and Eurasian Economic Union members.
The hybrid locomotive features an EU Stage IIIA low-emission diesel engine and intelligent energy management system, capable of normal operation in extreme cold down to -50℃. Each unit can reduce annual CO₂emissions by 240 tons, delivering significant environmental benefits. This delivery coincides with the eve of the second China-Central Asia Summit, marking an important step in China-Kazakhstan cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative for green development. CRRC Ziyang has now supplied over 200 locomotives to Kazakhstan.
