On June 10, the first CKD6S locomotive came off the production line, demonstrating the achievements of “the Belt and Road Initiative” countries, China and Kazakhstan, in rail transit.
The CKD6S locomotive is China’s first shunting locomotive used for EAC certificate. The locomotive is exclusively developed and made by CRRC Ziyang to meet the individualized need of the railways of Kazakhstan, featuring the adaptation of broad temperature range. Its assembly units such as the driver’s cage are cold-proof in -50℃ extremely cold environment while giving consideration of the need of forced-air cooling in +50℃ extreme summer heat.
On the morning of June 10, CRRC Ziyang held the ceremony of its first exported CKD6S shunting locomotive coming off the assembling line. Participants included Zhao Haoyu (deputy secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of Ziyang), Warrenbasha (vice president of the KTZ), Shao Renqiang (chief economic manager of CRRC, Fu Chengjun (Chairman of the Board of Directors of CRRC ZHUZHOU LOCOMOTIVE CO., LTD, leaders of relevant departments of Ziyang, leaders of the KTZ, leaders of CRRC ZHUZHOU LOCOMOTIVE CO., LTD, leaders of the Supervision Project Department of CRRC Ziyang, senior managers of CRRC Ziyang, as well as middle-level leaders and workers’ representatives. Chen Zhixin, director of the Board of CRRC Ziyang, officiated at the ceremony.
Warrenbasha, vice president of the KTZ, announced, “The first CKD6S shunting locomotive exported to Kazakhstan officially comes off the assembly line”.
Fu Chengjun, Zhao Haoyu, Warrenbasha, Shao Renqiang and Chen Zhixin jointly pressed the holographic crystal touching ball. With the loud and clear whistles, the CKD6S locomotive started and moved slowly out, hence starting to take the spotlight.
During the summit forum of the “Belt and Road” in October 2023, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, president of Kazakhstan, witnessed the signing of the cooperative agreement between CRRC and the KTZ. The CKD6S locomotive that just came off the assembly line was the first locomotive under this agreement. This model of locomotive will be used in the shunting service at the locomotive depots throughout Kazakhstan to ensure the normal operation of the China-Europe Railway Express. With the delivery of the locomotive, the cooperation between the two countries in rail transit will be conducted in a deeper and more comprehensive way, thus pushing forward the economic development of Kazakhstan.
The locomotive is equipped with diesel engine with proprietary intellectual property rights, coupled with advanced technologies such as electronically controlled fuel jet. Featured by low fuel consumption and low emission, it meets the IIIA emission standard of International Union of Railways (UIC), and has reached the international advanced level.
So far, CRRC has provided Kazakhstan with locomotive products and services for over 20 years, and more than 200 locomotives have been supplied to the country.
As an important enterprise under CRRC and the leading enterprise engaged in exporting China’s diesel locomotives, CRRC Ziyang has carried out The Belt and Road Initiative in an all-round way, and continuously provided global clients with products, technology and services. So far, it has exported more than 1,100 diesel locomotives to 34 countries, accounting for over 50 percent of the total exports of China’s diesel locomotives.
