On August 1st, CRRC Ziyang and Pakistan Railways jointly held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 63 Units of Locomotives Maintenance Project, which marked the Pakistan Locomotive Maintenance Project has entered a new stage.
Since 2014, 63 units of locomotives provided by CRRC Ziyang to Pakistan Railways have been put into operation successively. These locomotives have undertaken important transportation tasks in Pakistan, and have improved the operation status of Pakistan Railways. The local railway operation has increased at an annual rate of 30%, and the punctuality rate of passenger train has increased from 42% to 77%.
At the beginning of 2022, in order to further improve the on-line operation rate of locomotives and expand the advantages of CRRC Ziyang locomotives in serving Pakistan market, at the request of Pakistan Railways, the Company overcame the impact of COVID-19 and sent a professional team to Pakistan to prepare for the Maintenance Project.
On August 1st, the ribbon-cutting ceremony of Maintenance Project was officially held under the joint witness of Maintenance Team for Pakistan Railways and CRRC Ziyang Team. Rahat, General Manager of Pakistan Railway Locomotive and Carriage Factory, presided over the ceremony.
At the commencement ceremony, General Manager Rahat and Deputy Mechanical Engineer Sheikh fully affirmed the ability of CRRC Ziyang’s technical team in their speeches. They also expressed that the maintenance task during contract performance period was very heavy and a huge challenge, and hoped that both parties would overcome various difficulties to ensure the completion of maintenance for all locomotives.
They emphasized that CRRC Ziyang locomotives played a vital role in Pakistan's railway transportation, and the good operation of these locomotives was particularly critical to the development of Pakistan's railway transportation industry, which was also an important basis for further cooperation between the two parties.
