As the New Year arrives, new rail lines have been put into operation in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and many other locations across the country.
Starting from the first train on December 29, 2025, the extended section of Guangzhou Metro Line 22 (Chentougang to Fangcun) officially commenced operations. Known as the "Express Line to the South Railway Station," it significantly enhances travel efficiency in the core areas of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area with a 17-minute commute between Fangcun and Guangzhou South Railway Station.
On December 28, 2025, Phase III of the Shenzhen Metro Line 8 officially commenced trial operation. Stretching from Xiaomeisha Station to Xichong Station, the new section will integrate with Line 2 & 8. It connects five key districts—Nanshan, Futian, Luohu, Yantian, and Dapeng New District—bridging the historical "gap" in the rail network of Dapeng New District and further refining the overall layout of Shenzhen’s rail transit system.
Starting from the first train on December 27, 2025, the Phase II (Northern Section) of Shanghai Metro Line 18 officially commenced operation. Spanning approximately 8.1 kilometers with 6 stations, this extension serves as a key southeast urban artery and effectively breaks the rail transit barrier between Baoshan and Pudong, offering residents in Baoshan a more convenient and comfortable travel option for commuting to and from Pudong.
