On May 25, the “‘Shaoshan, An Everlasting Spiritual Highland’–A Thematic Exhibition of Shaoshan Series Electric Locomotives” was inaugurated at China Railway Museum (East Branch).
During the "Railway Culture Salon" forum session, Fu Zhinhuan (former Minister of Railways), Liu Youmei (academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering), and Luo Chunxiao (one of "Stellar Partners" of CRRC ZELC) engaged in an in-depth dialogue around three dimensions: Original Aspiration, Development, and Legacy.
The exhibition consists of five sections. Through the display of actual Shaoshan locomotives, models, and historical artifacts, it systematically presents the technological evolution and cultural heritage of China's rail transit equipment, reflecting on the development journey and echoing the strategic vision of building China into a country with strong transportation network.
As the primary driving force behind China's railway locomotives modernization from the early days of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to the pre-high-speed-rail era, the Shaoshan series electric locomotives made significant contributions to the railway transportation. In 1968, a landmark technological transformation was completed on the locomotive No.8 of the 6Y1 model, officially redesigning it as the Shaoshan-1. It marked a significant leap in the technological prowess of domestically produced electric locomotives, heralding the modernization of China's railway electrification.
This exhibition will run through October 11.
