Recently, the first 20 CDA5B1 locomotives exported to Thailand by CRRC successfully completed the passenger/freight transportation traction test, fully verifying the locomotive performance and achieving a milestone in the preparation for the operation start. The locomotives exported to Thailand are of 16-ton low axle load, which are the AC drive locomotives with the lowest axle load developed by CRRC. Meanwhile, the locomotive features a big power-weight ratio, thus boasting stronger traction power compared with locomotives with the same axle load.
Passenger/freight transportation traction test is one of the most important tests before the locomotive is put into operation, and the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) attaches much importance to it. CRRC’s delivery team worked closely with SRT, jointly making good preparation for the test and ensuring successful test completion within a short period of time. Both the locomotive’s traction and acceleration performance are highly recognized by SRT, the official website of which reported the test result as soon as it was available.
The first 20 locomotives under the order arrived in Thailand in February. Nirut Maneephan, head of SRT, attended the delivery ceremony in person. Currently, other tests of the locomotives are in full swing.
