At the end of July 2015, the last EMU that CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “CRRC Sifang”) exported to Argentina was smoothly boarded in Qingdao Port and shipped to Argentina, which marked the full delivery of 709 EMUs - China's largest export of intercity EMUs to Argentina.
In early 2013, CRRC Sifang received two contracts on supply of a total of 709 intercity EMUs to Argentina, with the total amount of nearly USD 1 billion. The EMUs would be used for the Sarmiento Line, Matt Line and Roca Line of the capital of Argentina - Buenos Aires. This was China's biggest overseas order for intercity EMUs.
Since the shipment of the first EMU on January 1, 2014, there were a total of 24 batches. The EMUs were put into operation in Buenos Aires since last July. It was only a year and a half from the conclusion of the contract to the operation of the EMUs, creating the fastest record of delivery to and operation in Argentina. The inter-city EMUs with the blue & white stripes and Argentinean cultural characteristics shuttle back and forth between the Argentine capital city and the surrounding satellite towns, serving millions of Argentines and popular with the locals. The passenger satisfaction survey result provided by Argentina reached 97%. The EMUs have been a veritable “Chinese business card” in Argentina.
