CRRC Dalian Co., Ltd. has delivered an FXN3B hybrid shunting locomotive to Jinggu Railway Company in Beijing, marking the first deployment of a hybrid shunting locomotive by a non-state railway operator in the region.

The handover ceremony took place on March 23 at the Jingping Integrated Logistics Hub, where the locomotive was officially put into operation. The delivery is positioned as part of China’s broader push to modernize equipment and promote low-carbon transport under national policy initiatives.
Developed independently by CRRC Dalian, the FXN3B locomotive integrates advanced battery technology with a high-efficiency electric drive system. Compared with conventional diesel shunting locomotives, it offers lower emissions and noise, improved energy efficiency, and reduced lifecycle operating and maintenance costs, while enhancing overall transport capacity and operational efficiency.

The deployment replaces Jinggu Railway’s older diesel locomotive fleet and marks a transition toward new-energy rail equipment. It is expected to support the low-carbon upgrade of Beijing’s logistics system and provide a replicable model for the green transformation of non-state railway operations across China.

CRRC Dalian said it will continue to expand applications of new-energy locomotives and explore integration with multimodal transport systems, aiming to build a cleaner, more efficient, and intelligent freight equipment network in support of regional development and national climate goals.
