The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released the 2025 list of Excellence-Level Smart Factory projects. CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive’s “Urban Rail Vehicles Just-in-Time and Flexible Manufacturing Smart Factory” was selected.
The project applies digital twin, intelligent in-line inspection, 5G+, AI image recognition, and big-data analytics to build a bogie frame welding digital workshop, a piping digital workshop, and an intelligent painting workshop—deeply integrating information technologies with manufacturing. It delivers 14 representative application scenarios, including digitized R&D, flexible production lines, precise material delivery, and remote product O&M services, forming a replicable, transferable, and scalable smart-manufacturing solution that accelerates the sector’s shift toward intelligent and innovation-driven manufacturing.
According to MIIT, Excellence-Level Smart Factories must lead the industry in intelligent production, equipment control, data integration, full-lifecycle management, and supply-chain optimization, and play a benchmarking role in technology innovation, productivity, and green manufacturing—an official recognition reserved for factories at the domestic leading level.
