The China Electric Power Construction Enterprise Association has announced the winners of the “2025 China Power Industry Quality Engineering” awards. Among them are two projects powered by CRRC turbines: the 800 MW Alxa Base wind project by CRRC Shandong Wind Power, and the 500 MW Qian’an project of Guohua Investment’s Jilin Branch, equipped by CRRC Zhuzhou Institute. Both were recognized for excellence in construction quality and operational performance.
The Alxa project in Inner Mongolia is a key part of China’s “Mongolia-to-Shandong Power Transmission” strategy and one of the first large-scale renewable projects in desert–gobi areas. The project uses CRRC Shandong’s tailor-made 3.3 MW wind turbines, featuring a mature and reliable horizontal-axis, three-blade, upwind design with pitch control. These units achieved notable technical breakthroughs, offering strong resistance to sand and extreme temperatures, high conversion efficiency, and easy maintenance. Their robust performance in harsh desert–gobi conditions ensured efficient power generation for transmission through the Western Inner Mongolia and Northwest power grids to Shandong.
The Qian’an project in Jilin Province installed 125 CRRC turbines with a total capacity of 500 MW, achieving full grid connection in December 2022. It efficiently harnesses local wind resources to supply clean energy to Shandong and provides a scalable model for developing renewables in challenging environments. It contributes to regional energy structure optimization and supports sustainable economic and social development.
CRRC will continue to advance wind power technology, uphold green development principles, and provide reliable clean-energy solutions. Through “CRRC Wisdom” and the “CRRC Solution,” we are committed to serving China’s dual carbon strategy and contributing to the vision of a Beautiful China.
