On August 17, CCTV-2’s Economic Information Network aired a special program, Travel with Economists: Qingdao’s Foreign Trade in Focus, highlighting the vitality of China’s foreign trade through a high-speed rail journey. The program visited CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd., where CCTV reporter Ma Jialun and Zhao Zhongxiu, President of the University of International Business and Economics, explored CRRC Sifang’s high-speed train manufacturing base. The “immersive” visit showcased China’s world-leading high-speed rail as a shining symbol of the nation’s export strength.
At the National Key Laboratory for High-Speed Maglev Transportation Technology, the delegation experienced a trial ride on the 600 km/h high-speed maglev system. Positioned between wheel-rail high-speed rail and aviation, high-speed maglev fills a critical speed gap and, according to experts, generates significant “same-city effects.”
On CRRC Sifang’s final assembly line, they observed the production of high-speed diesel multiple units (DMUs) for export to the United Arab Emirates—trains so emblematic that they were even featured on UAE banknotes, earning high praise from the economists.
From technology introduction and adaptation to independent innovation, China’s high-speed rail demonstrates a growing “technology spillover effect,” as advanced train technologies increasingly reach global markets and benefit the world.
The program was also rebroadcast across multiple CCTV-2 segments, including First Time, Zhengdian Finance, and Global Finance.
