On June 23, CCTV’s prime-time news program Xinwen Lianbo reported on China’s rapid progress in artificial intelligence, featuring CRRC’s major breakthrough in large-scale simulation models for high-speed train design.
As China builds out its AI infrastructure, central SOEs and SMEs have applied AI in more than 500 industrial scenarios—including manufacturing, energy, and intelligent vehicles. In synthetic biology factories, AI algorithms are being used to optimize fermentation processes across hundreds of millions of microbial strains, increasing efficiency by tenfold. In high-speed train R&D centers, simulation models now cut aerodynamic computing time from one day to just 10 seconds, vastly improving development speed.
“In the past, hundreds of simulation rounds could take months or even a year to finalize a train model,” said Chen Dawei, Chief Technical Expert at CRRC. “Thanks to our national database of over 100 terabytes and advanced neural operator algorithms, our new model improves simulation efficiency by more than 30-fold.”
The innovation reflects CRRC’s deep integration of AI into intelligent manufacturing and its leadership in applying cutting-edge tools to high-speed rail development.
