On June 19, the Beijing International Sustainability Conference 2025 was held in Beijing, hosted by the IFRS Foundation and organized by CRRC Group. Centered on the theme “Implementing Global Baseline: Building Compatible Sustainability Disclosure Infrastructure,” the event focused on strategies and practical pathways for implementing international sustainability disclosure standards. Discussions explored key measures for building a comprehensive global sustainability reporting system and its significance for sustainable economic and social development worldwide.
Key speakers included: Emmanuel Faber, Chair of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Lin Qiyun, Director General of the Accounting Department, Ministry of Finance of China, Wang Xin, Director General of the Research Bureau, People’s Bank of China, Peng Huagang, President of the China Enterprise Reform and Development Society, and Wang An, Deputy Party Secretary and Board Director of CRRC Group. The event drew more than 12 million online viewers globally.
Demonstrating its commitment to sustainability, CRRC adopted eco-friendly measures at the event, including name badges made from biodegradable materials embedded with plant seeds. These badges can be planted in soil and watered to naturally decompose and sprout greenery—symbolizing how every participant contributes to ecological efforts and inspires wider community engagement through tangible green actions.
In his keynote remarks, Wang An shared CRRC’s perspectives and practices around ESG implementation, focusing on the dual questions of “how we view it” and “how we act on it”.
He emphasized that under the global push for sustainable development, ESG disclosure standards are characterized by both diversity and convergence. Supporting a global implementation of baseline standards requires broad consensus and collective action around “unified standards, phased implementation, and inclusive collaboration.” He noted that CRRC fully recognizes the leadership role of ISSB standards and is committed to early adoption.
Wang also introduced CRRC’s “33416” ESG strategic framework, designed to enhance sustainability through governance. The company is advancing its dual-carbon (carbon peaking and neutrality) goals under the “6G” philosophy, strengthening talent development, supporting rural revitalization, and deepening participation in the Belt and Road Initiative to serve as a bridge connecting the world. Additionally, CRRC plans to establish a carbon-neutral ecosystem across its industrial chain, implement full-supply-chain green evaluations, and promote green collaboration and standardization—driving sustainable transformation across the value chain.
The success of the conference created a vital exchange platform for implementing global sustainability disclosure standards and laying the groundwork for integrating international frameworks with local practices. CRRC remains committed to delivering on its responsibilities through measurable progress, articulating China’s sustainability approach within an international context, and contributing both Chinese perspectives and CRRC-driven solutions.
