CRRC ZELC revealed on 23rd that the Research on Key Technology of Medium-speed Maglev Transportation System led by the Company under the 13th Five-Year National Key R&D Program has recently passed a review by 11 famous scholars in the industry, including Qian Qingquan, Liu Youmei and Ding Rongjun, academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
According to Yang Ying, the project leader, concurrently served as CRRC chief technical expert and CRRC ZELC deputy chief engineer, 200 km/h Medium Speed Maglev Transportation System Technical Solution passing the industry review marked that the development of China's medium-speed maglev transportation system pioneered by CRRC ZELC has achieved a phased result. Next, construction design and prototype production stage will be carried out. The prototype train is expected to go offline in 2019 and train will finish all tests by 2021.
With development in economy and urbanization, ties among Chinese cities is increasingly close. Medium-speed maglev transportation is suitable for city circle and inter-city areas with a route length from 50 km to 200 km, an average station distance from several kilometers to ten kilometers above, an operating speed from 160 km/h to 250 km/h. Its operating speed range is 100 km/h - 200 km/h and will extend to “one-hour urban circle”, enjoying a promising market prospective.
At present, CRRC ZELC has successfully developed the 100 km/h version 1.0 commercial low-speed maglev train and the 160 km/h version 2.0 commercial rapid maglev train. Version 1.0 maglev train has been safely operated in Changsha for two years and operating for more than 1.68 million kilometers, accumulating rich experiences in operation of commercial maglev train. On this basis, development of 200 km/h medium-speed maglev train symbolizes that China’s maglev enters to version 3.0 era. China's commercial maglev technology system has progressively taken shape.
“There is no 200 km/h medium-speed maglev technology in the world now, therefore, its development is of great significance. It can not only provide diversified travel options for city circle and inter-city areas, but also improve development of metro and wheel-rail system for inter-city in China, improve technological level of China's entire rail transit industry and drive development of related industries. ” says Zhou Qinghe, Chairman of the Board and Party Secretary of CRRC ZELC.
