[CHINANEWS.COM] Pakistan Welcomed the First Metro “Made in China”

The first metro “made in China” arrived in Pakistan to make contribution for the building of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

1400 years ago, the famous monk Xuanzang visited Pakistan which ignited the cultural communication between China and Pakistan; today, the first “Made in China” metro arrived in this city which turns a new chapter of economic communication between these 2 nations.

In the afternoon of 8th October(Local time), a great unveiling ceremony was held in second biggest city of Pakistan-Lahore. It means that Pakistan has officially entered in the era of metro.

The chief minister Shahbaz sharif of Punjab, senior consultant Hassan, Consul General of Chinese Consulate General in Punjab Long Dingbin, general manager of Lahore project in China Railway Corporation, vice general manager of China Railway International Co.,Ltd, the general manager of CR-NORINCO Zhu Pengfei, the general manager of CRRC ZELC Fu Chengjun were attended in ceremony and delivered some remarks. They all expressed their expectations and good wishes for this project. The vice general manager Luo Chongfu and other leaders attended the ceremony as well.

On the ceremony, all guests came together to celebrate the arrival of first train.

In May when the Belt and Road International Cooperation Forum was held in China, the exemplary Pakistan Lahore orange line metro project lead by CR and NORINCO was rolling out in CRRC ZELC.

The “orange line” is from north to south with total length of 25.58km including 26 stations. 27 trainsets formed by 5 cars (3M+2T) B type metro were purchased in phase I. The vehicles adopts Stainless steel microdrum body and the highest operation speed can achieve 80km/h.

The general manager of CRRC ZELC Fu Chengjun told journalist that the vehicle adopts reliable traction system, high temperature resistance bogie and high-efficiency air conditioning system. The design allows the vehicle to provide power for air condition, lighting and traction in temperature of 60℃. Moreover, the exterior design integrates the character of jasminum grandiflorum and Badshahi Mosque to express the culture and passion of Pakistan.

Zhu Pengfei said that it’s important to execute smoothly this project. Firstly, it will highly improve the transportation condition in Lahore where is the cultural and art center. Secondly, this comprehensive rail transportation project will be a good example for Pakistan in terms of the construction of rail transportation. Finally, this project is a concrete step for the building of CPEC which is a milestone for the friendship between China and Pakistan.
