Chen Jian did not think of that he would marry a beautiful Malay girl just a few years after working in Malaysia.

"In fact, it has much common with Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd(ZELC For Short)." Chen is an employer of ZELC. In July, 2005, he worked in Mass Transit Division of ZELC. In July, 2011, he joined the Kuala Lumpur Maintenance Company. In July, 2013, he met his wife Lin Jiahui. The EMU manufactured by CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. (It was named CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd.) for Kuala Lumpur was well-known in local, featuring beautiful look, comfortable ride, smooth running, low noise and high speed. It had not only won the respect from the locals, but also rendered local Chinese people a lot of sense of pride. Our families showed their great kindness to him, finally we got married.

Recently, responding to The Belt and Road Initiative, CRRC ZELC has strengthened efforts of Going Global and determined to build a respectable international company. How does CRRC ZELC achieve this goal?

"Product quality and performance capabilty are the basis of being respected." Zhou Qinghe, Chairman and Party Secretary of CRRC ZELC, said, product quality, contract performance capability, innovation ability, services quality are the basis to win competitions during process of enterprise's internationalization.

“Vehicles manufactured by CRRC ZELC are much popular among Malay people. The vehicle is characterized with stableness, safety, fast and comfortableness. It quickly becomes one of the main Malaysian transportation after put into use.” Liao Zhonglai-Malaysia Minister of Transport said. In 2015, ETS1 vehicles which CRRC ZELC exported to Malaysia quickly became their first choice of travel when officially put into operation. At the weekend, tickets tended to be booked 1 month in advance. Therefore, in 2016, Malaysia government put forward the plan of purchase of ETS vehicles twice in succession. In April 11, 2017, Malaysia Ministry of Transport  signed the ETS2 purchase agreement with CRRC ZELC on 13 sets of hybrid EMU and the 9 sets of modern super EMU, demonstrating Malaysia's high affirmation on CRRC ZELC of its technological innovation, fast project performance capability, train quality and service.

In addition to provide proven products, CRRC ZELC was also committed to supplying system solutions which was the premise of being respected.

CRRC ZELC only learned that Kuala Lumpur intercity railway train was gradually dilapidated and seriously affected with the passage of time before stepping into Malaysia market. When the Malaysia employer negotiated with the former supplier on spare parts and services, the results was that the combined price of spare parts even higher than the price of new cars." Zhou said, that means forcing Malaysia to" rob Peter to pay Paul " and removing some parts to assemble available vehicles.

In order to solve the local customers' worries, ZELC put forward that taking the newly-purchased intercity EMUs as the basis, ZELC would build EMU maintenance base similar to the auto 4S shop in local and continue to provided maintenance services and spare parts after the warranty period to ensure the vehicle's normal operation within life cycle. After several years of development, the company had set up a headquarter in Malaysia and six major maintenance workshop base, which can provide customers full cycle and one-stop services from maintenance, technical consultation to staff training, labor export, parts supplying, etc.. ensuring the vehicle's normal operation within life cycle.

Today, the SCS project EMU running on the north-to-south, East to west two intercity railway lines in Kuala Lumper would be carried out routine maintenance in ZELC main base located in the capital of Negeri Sembilan-Sereban every other day. The maintenance team can complete 20 cars' maintenance every day.

"Continuous orders from customers are the best evaluation of our services.” Yang Xiaoquan who is responsible for the maintenance and service of the project SCS introduced, due to the satisfaction of early implementation of the project, Malaysia National Railway Company renewed the SCS EMU maintenance contract with ZELC twice.

Looking back nearly 8 years' cooperation between ZELC and Malaysia, they found that mutual benefit and win-win cooperation were of significance, which were also essential that CRRC was respected and popular in Malaysia.

With both deepen cooperation and enhanced mutual trust over these years, the Malaysia EMU can be manufactured in Malaysia with aid of ZELC. At present, CRRC ZELC has set up two subsidiaries and a joint venture in Malaysia, in charge of train maintenance services and manufacturing respectively. Employee localization rate reaches more than 80%. In the future, CRRC ZELC will widely carry out Five Localization Measures in overseas, localization of employment, procurement, services, manufacturing and marketing, promote local talent and industry incubation, and ultimately realize that more than 95% of employees are local people. Besides, ZELC will improve the local rail transportation, boost local economic development and promote the employment of local people.

ZELC's localization of production in Malaysia means more job opportunities for many local young people. 3 years ago, the Malaysia guy-Hanif at his early twenties applied for and became a fitter in ASEAN manufacturing center. Due to his excellent performance in the work, he had won several opportunities to attend training courses in China, and grown up as the monitor of the fitter class in a short period of time. "There are a lot of opportunities for self development. Contributing to the construction of the national railway gives me a strong sense of accomplishment, and also let my families feel proud of my work.” Under the recommendation of Hanif, his 10 friends have also joined the center.

With the mutual benefit, Malaysia has delivered more than 85% of the local rail transportation equipment orders to ZELC to achieve common development and mutual progress.

At the end of 2014, Malaysia suffered the most severe flood within 50 years. Of all 13 states, 8 states were hit by flood. CRRC ZELC responded quickly and became involved in disaster relief campaigns, and it donated the most among China-invested enterprises, embodying its social responsibility.

CRRC ZELC's success in Malaysia let the world witness the development opportunities and national benefits brought by The Belt and Road Initiative. Malaysia's Minister of Transport---Liao Zhonglai said that comprehensively responding to China's Belt and Road Initiative, Malaysia hope Chinese government can give it full support. In addition, Malaysia also welcomes Chinese enterprises to join and develop its related project. He believes China's investment can effectively promote the development of Malaysia, achieving win-win cooperation.
