Chinese Bridge Contestants Experience Huxiang Culture

On July 11, contestants of the 17th Chinese Bridge—Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students began their culture tour in Hunan after a fierce semi-final competition held the day before. They paid a visit to CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. and Hunan Museum.

CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. (CRRC ZELC) is based along the bank of Xiangjiang River, Hunan Province, China, adjacent to Beijing-Guangzhou Railway Line and Shanghai-Kunming Railway Line. Taking up an area of 2.25km2, CRRC ZELC is a key subsidiary under CRRC Corporation Limited, China’s largest research and manufacturing base of electric locomotives and the leading enterprise among Hunan rail transportation industry cluster with investment of hundreds of billions of RMB Yuan, enjoying the reputation of “Hometown of China’s Electric Locomotives”. Founded in 1936, CRRC ZELC has been maintaining a steady, rapid and healthy development momentum and setting a lot of new records in China’s railway transport equipment industry.

During their visit, they took photos with newly produced trains. They said that they were very impressed about the advanced production technology.

They later visited Hunan Museum.

As the largest history and art museum in Hunan province, the Hunan Museum covers an area of 51,000㎡, with the public building area reaching 29,000㎡. It is one of the first batch of national first-level museums and one of the first eight national museums co-funded by central and local governments. Officially opened in 1956, it is an excellent National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base and Hunan’s 4A level tourist attraction.

Boasting abundant collections, the museum houses over 180,000 artifacts, which feature the cultural relics excavated from the world-famous Mawangdui Tombs of Han Dynasty, the bronze wares of the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, cultural relics of Chu State, pottery and porcelain works from various dynasties, calligraphy works and paintings, religious objects, handicrafts and cultural relics of modern times. There are 6 featured exhibitions opened in the Museum now. Through the visit, contestants had a better understanding of Hunan’s history and culture.
