Recently, ‘Design scheme of the permanent magnet direct drive system for AC drive electric locomotive’, which is developed by CRRC Yongji Electric Co.,Ltd., passed the expert evaluation. It is the most powerful electric locomotive traction transmission system in the world. The review group experts highly affirmed the research achievements of the system and said: The design scheme of the high power permanent magnet direct drive system, which bases on the 160km/h AC transmission power locomotive platform, is reasonable and innovative. And the design scheme is unanimously approved.
The permanent magnet direct drive technology is the direction of the new generation of rail transportation research. Compared with the traditional asynchronous traction system, the permanent magnet direct drive system has the distinct advantage of high power density and high motor efficiency. The permanent magnet system can improve the efficiency of whole vehicle by more than 3% due to the use of the permanent magnetic direct drive transmission and dispense with the gear box. The advantages of the system are simple structure, high reliability and low maintenance cost.
The permanent magnet direct drive system is expected to carry out the vehicle loop united test in Sept. 2018. Through the loading test, the advantages of the permanent magnet direct drive system can be tested and verified.
