    CRRC Yongji Electric Co. Ltd(hereafter short for CRRC Yongji), who contributed to realize fully technology independence with numbers of Chinese high speed railway technology, has not only implemented remarkable achievements in inland market, but also exported products to more than 40 counties and regions. CRRC Yongji has transformed from product export to technology and capital export, and built a “new business card” with its high quality, boosted ‘made in China’ to go to the world. Because of its excellent quality and leading technology, CRRC Yongji has been honored ‘China Export QS Model Enterprise’ by AQSIQ (Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine), which is the only model enterprise in Shanxi province at present.

    Mr. Nan Qinlong, president of CRRC Yongji Electric Co., Ltd., briefly described Yongji’s ‘Going Global’ strategy and push ‘Made in China’ go to the global when was interviewed by China Quality Daily.

    As earlier as in 1993, basing on independent innovation, Yongji products exported with locomotives. In 1997, the first spare parts in independent export; in 2002, complete motors first export to USA; in 2014, the first overseas joint venture set up in India, in 2015, the sole enterprise established in South Africa. Up to now, total more than 100 types of complete motors and spare parts were exported to as many as 40 countries and regions, such as USA, Canada, India, South Africa, Australia, Russia etc..

    Ms. Li Yongmei, vice general manager of Yongji Electric, said to the reporter, the final evaluation for YZ08 series motors have been approved by National Inspection of Import and export, and Yongji Electric thus come to be the first enterprise that got ‘Enterprise for Exemption from Export inspection’. At the same time, Yongji Electric strengthened the exploit on the international market of rig drilling, railway, wind generator etc., as well as development on the new products, and has got remarkable achievement. Up to now, ten thousands of motors were exported and amounts to 4 billion RMB.

    The structure of export products has been transformed from spare parts export oriented to motor and system export oriented; the export mode has been transformed from product export to capital, service and technology export.

    In 2009, Yongji Electric successfully developed AC traction motor market for diesel locomotive in India and the first batch of prototype motors was dispatched in May 2011. Yongji Electric has gradually been Part I supplier of Indian MOR for its timely delivery and stable quality and also obtain opportunity to compete with world-famous enterprises. Currently, YJ157A traction motor fitted on Indian 4500 HP diesel locomotive has become a major exporting project for Yongji Electric.

    As per India MOR’s stipulation, a supplier will possess the qualification to bid only until its motors commission for one year. In July 2011, it was the first time for Yongji Electric to win the bid for 36 nos traction motors. In August 2012, Yongji Electric got approval to be Part II supplier for AC traction motor. In March 2014, Yongji Electric was promoted to be Part I supplier, and bidding share increased from 15% to 30%. Yongji Electric successfully signed the contracts for 180 nos traction motors in the same year, which is 60% share of the tender quantity. In early 2016, Yongji Electric won again the tender and signed 408 nos traction motors, which is the largest exporting contract for Yongji Electric.

    On March of 2014, CRRC won a tender of 232 locomotives from South Africa, total contract value amount to USD 3 billion. Among them, Yongji Electric is responsible for supplying complete electric driving system products including alternators, traction motors, traction auxiliary converters etc., and localizing those products in South Africa. As per the contract, besides 35 nos of traction system produced indoor, Yongji Electric need to invest and set up branches in South Africa, and is responsible to localization with the rest products.

    Yongji Electric Equipment South Africa Proprietary was established in May 2015, relevant product localization has started in South Africa. Yongji Electric completed on site training for 13 staffs in 2 groups from TRANSNET according to South Africa technology transfer planning. At present, 35 sets of domestic traction system of diesel locomotive is under producing as request, the first batch of traction system diesel locomotive is testing and commissioning. It was indicated by data that traction system is stable and reliable, it fully meet the requirement of test. Traction motor is “heart” of EMU, how to let the world know this “heart”? Nan Qinlong answered, basing on Indian and South Africa project experiences, CRRC Yongji electric will actively implement overseas mergers and acquisition. Gradually set up four sale bases in the world such as Asia-Pacific area, Africa area, Latin America and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) region, to build a more efficient international marketing net.
