The mass transit brake system developed by SRI passed the technological evaluation before installation on car organized by National Development & Reform Commission in 2003. In 2004, it was mounted on Dalian archaic tramcar and passed the running test. The mass transit brake system is composed by brake control unit, command converter, computer-controlled unit, master controller, etc. This system integrates the computer control, the pneumatic control, the measuring control and the communication technology, which provides it with functions such as service brake, rapid brake, emergency brake and parking brake. The complex brake mode permits it to adjust the brake force automatically in terms of the variation of speed and car load and the impulse limit. It has other functions such as automatic check, failure memorization and indication, abutment with network and adaptability for ATO/ATP command. It is applicable to a wide range: mass transit vehicles like metro cars and LRVs, multiple units and high speed trains. It fills up the blank of brake systems made in China. Now, it is in service on Dalian tramcars.
