~SDD9 diesel locomotive is equipped with MTU 12V4000R41R diesel engine with
service power 1250kW. Main transmission adopts AC-DC electric transmission. And auxiliary system adopts DC and AC transmission. Two bogies with two axles for each and double pull rods for axle box are used. The mechanism of four low-position tractive rods is utilized for transmission of tractive and braking effort. The carbody is of load bearing centre beam and outside corridor. The braking system is equipped with double-purpose brake of air and vacuum. It is capable of multiple units in consist.
