Introduction: DF8B diesel locomotive is a new high-power trunk-line heavy haul freight diesel locomotive developed for increasing the speed of heavy haul freight transport on busy trunk lines in China. It is equipped with 16V280ZJA diesel engine, JF204D synchronous primary generator and ZD109C traction motor. The maximum service power of the diesel engine is 3680KW, the nominal power of the locomotive is 3100KW and the axle load is 25(23+2) t. The locomotive adopts microcomputer control system, big screen color LCD and resistance braking device with full power self-load test functions. The maximum starting traction effort is 480kN (up to 520kN calculated per motor), the continuous tractive effort is 340kN and the maximum constant power speed can reach 90km/h. It is a new generation of heavy-haul freight diesel locomotive with the largest single-unit power, advanced electrical control technology and excellent dynamic performance so far in China.
