Recently, HXD1 electric locomotive double heading, created by the company, has driven out of locomotive depot, undertaking the important mission of heavy load traction on Watang-Rizhao Line, which is a remarkable moment for the line.
Watang-Rizhao Line stretches from Watang Town, Liangxing County, Shanxi Province in the west to Rizhao Port, Shandong Province in the east, the first one-off completed and longest railway in China that complies with the standard of international heavy haul railway. Its successful operation is a milestone of Chinese heavy haul railway after China has shown its leadership in the field of railway construction by railways built over plateau and high speed railways and provide a new platform for China to study, test and develop technologies on heavy haul railway, including 30-ton axle load.
It only had 20 days to put heavy haul electric locomotives into operation as soon as they were manufactured. Faced with the difficulty of supplying extra crew members which would cost 4 days and a 3,500-kilometer-long round trip, the company organized over 20 professional service engineers for every three pairs of 10,000-ton trains traveling every day to ensure that these trains on Watang-Rizhao Line can run safely.
