Recently, the official opening ceremony of the Pakistan Lahore rail transit orange line project was held through video connection between Beijing and Lahore of Pakistan. With a loud whistle, the Metro train of Lahore “made by CRRC” started its stead drive, marking Pakistan’s official entrance into the Metro era. The Lahore Orange Line is the first rail transit project along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor within the “Belt and Road” Initiative framework, as well as the first urban rail transit project in Pakistan.

The project was developed by CRRC ZELC, covering 25.58km in length with 26 stations and the maximum running speed of 80km/h. The train is equipped with a safe and reliable traction system, a high temperature-resistant trailing truck and an energy-efficient air conditioning system, and can withstand local climate conditions of high temperature and strong UV. The train adopts a streamline design, and integrates elements like jasmine, the national flower of Pakistan, and Badshashi Mosque, the loyal mosque, into its appearance.

The operation start of the Lahore Orange Line project adds a beautiful scenery for the city of Lahore. More importantly, it is of profound economic and social significance in alleviating the city’s transportation pressure, reducing travel cost for local residents, and promoting economic development.
