Recently, the light rail train for Monterrey, Mexico successfully rolled off the assembly line in CRRC ZELC, and China’s rail transit equipment will serve Mexico for the first time. With a passenger capacity of 355 and a designed speed of 80km/h, the 29.5-meter long and 2.69-meterwide train will be used in Line 1, Line 2 and Line 3 of the Monterrey Light Rail. The Monterrey light rail train boasts characteristics like “nice look, high level of safety, green and energy-conservation, and high level of comfort”. The train’s exterior design is inspired by the Mexican wrestler mask, featuring fluid and smooth lines, while its interior design adopts the deco color of Monterrey Stadium, which has a distinctive local tone. Overall safety of the train is rated as ‘five-star”, and its strength performance and collision performance both meet European standards and requirements.

Even amid the global outbreak of COVID-19, it only took 10 months for the R&D, project and management teams of CRRC ZELC to complete the train’s design, manufacturing and outgoing tests. The first batch of trains are expected to arrive in Mexico 2 months earlier than required by the contract, demonstrating the “China speed” to the Mexican people.
