Recently, 3 diesel multiple units (DMU) developed and manufactured by CRRC for Angola successfully started operation on the Benguela railway (the Benguela-Lobito section). Many local residents experienced the ride, and local officials spoke highly of the DMU’s operation start.
The Angola DMU comprises 4 cars. The power pack is integrated and suspended under the train. It is a premium model for intercity transit. Boasting a maximum continuous operating speed of 100km/h, the 3 DMU are capable of triple-heading operation. To ensure the safety and reliable operation of the Angola DMU, after completing the train formation, CRRC Tangshan’s Angola aftersales service team updated the software of all the systems, and conducted all tests one by one strictly according to the delivery documents to make sure that the train satisfied the delivery acceptance criteria. After the train delivery and acceptance, the Angola aftersales service team carried out functional checks of various systems including the train’s diesel engine every day, identified and solved issues in a timely manner, and ensured all operating conditions are normal.
The successful operation start of the Angola DMU on the Benguela railway will provide effective support for intercity travel and people movement in the province’s coastal cities.
