Recently, CRRC held a “Delivery Ceremony of the First Train and ‘Open Day’” at the Trindade metro station in Porto of Portugal. This was the “debut” of the first city rail train exported to EU countries by China. Residents in Porto will enjoy the new metro service soon.
The new metro train was jointly designed by CRRC Tangshan and Metro Porto, adhering to the design concept of green, intelligence, comfort, and safety. The train features light weight, low energy consumption and intelligence, and is a new generation of metro trains that meet the European standards. The new metro train is fully compatible with the existing trains in Porto and can simultaneously operate on the same routes. The operation of the new train will significantly increase the operational efficiency and reduce the operational costs of Porto’s metro network, making it more convenient and comfortable for the residents of Porto to travel.
Upon the completion of relevant tests, the first train is expected be put into operation in May. The new train will not only operate on the existing lines, but can also run on new metro lines in the future.
