Recently, towed by the CRRC-made HXN5B diesel locomotive, the Lancang-Mekong Express international freight train operating on China-Laos Railway departed from Kunming of Yunnan. The operation of the train marks the successful start of China-Laos-Thailand round-trip railway transportation.
The 6 HXN5B diesel locomotives developed by CRRC for China-Laos Railway have been deployed to the 6 major freight yards along China-Laos Railway. They have successfully completed multiple train tractions, and are the “old friends” of China-Laos Railway. Considering the characteristics of China-Laos Railway, such as damp climate, multiple tunnels and rough terrain, CRRC has made adaptive improvements of the HXN5B diesel locomotives, including conducting high-quality fine painting that effectively prevents train erosion, and adopting the more advanced electronic diesel engine control to further guarantee the safe operation of the locomotives.
China-Laos Railway offers an efficient and convenient international logistics channel, for which transportation demand continues to rise. It is expected that by the end of May, the China-Laos-Thailand round-trip freight train will depart every other day, and will depart every day starting from the end of June. CRRC’s intelligent manufacturing will continue to serve China-Laos Railway, and will constantly contribute to the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
