Recently, Q-Train, a metro train made by CRRC, was officially put into operation on MTR Kwun Tong Line. The operation of the new train kicked off the train update of MTR urban lines. The new train will gradually replace the first generation urban lines that have been operating for over 40 years, providing a better riding experience for residents in Hong Kong.
Boasting outstanding safety, reliability and comfort features, the train was designed and manufactured by CRRC Sifang, which, based on its mature metro vehicle technological platform, drew on the operation and maintenance experience of MTR, and followed advanced international standards. Meanwhile, the train adopts intelligent service equipment that integrates advanced technologies like sensing and predictive maintenance, further improving the train’s performance and equipping the train with early warning, diagnosis and prediction functions, thus enabling the development of scientific and reasonable maintenance strategy based on the actual use of the train.
After the train arrived in Hong Kong, CRRC fully appraised the comprehensive performance of the train, including safety, reliability and passenger experience, and completed various type tests and routine tests as well as commissioning. The train performed well during the pilot operation, and met the conditions for official operation. The train was fully recognized by the users, laying a good foundation for successful operation.
