Recently, the first 46 broad-gauge passenger trains developed and manufactured by CRRC Tangshan for export to Pakistan and 169 cases of spare parts were loaded onto Vessel Da’an at Huisheng Wharf of Tianjin Port for shipment to Karachi Port. This this the first export of China’s passenger trains with a speed of 160km/h.

The broad-gauge passenger trains for export to Pakistan are designed with new concepts, adopting broad-gauge bogies and a light-weight body structure, and achieving perfect combination of large passenger capacity and small axle load by fully considering the actual operational needs of the railway in Pakistan. For the interior, green and light-weight materials are selected, and the seats and handrails are designed ergonomically, significantly improving the comfort level of passengers.

Different from product export in the past, the Pakistan passenger train project contains both local manufacturing and technical transfer. Currently, the training for the first group of users from Pakistan Railway Administration has successfully completed in Tangshan, and 25 trainees have received their training certificates and relevant qualifications. The shipment of the first trains marks an important step from product export to technical transfer.

The export model of combining “product + technology + service” is an important practice of China’s rail transit equipment manufacturer in promoting technological cooperation among countries along the Belt and Road, which will become a “golden business card” for the export of China’s rail transit equipment.
