In order to ensure the smooth progress of whole vehicle type test of permanent magnet direct drive passenger electric locomotive, support professionals of CRRC Datong Co., Ltd. stuck to their posts in the CARS National Railway Track Test Center to cope with various issues regarding permanent magnet direct drive passenger electric locomotive.

They insisted on measuring, calculating and commissioning at high temperature and successfully completed more than ten tests such as static braking performance test of permanent magnet direct drive passenger electric locomotive. The braking system passed the static test successfully, not only making a good start for the whole vehicle type test of permanent magnet direct drive passenger electric locomotive, but also providing guarantee for the upcoming tests.

Permanent magnet direct drive passenger electric locomotive is a new breakthrough in the field of AC electric locomotive made by China after “Fast passenger electric locomotive” and “Heavy-duty electric locomotive”. The overall efficiency of the locomotive will be increased by more than 3%, saving electric energy of 200 kWh per hour, and it has the remarkable characteristics of low maintenance cost, green, environmental and silent. As a representative of emerging technology, permanent magnet direct drive technology is recognized as the next generation of driving technology. This is the first time that permanent magnet direct drive technology has been applied in high-power AC drive electric locomotives.

The total power of permanent magnet direct drive electric locomotive is 7,200KW, equipped with 6 sets of high-power permanent magnet synchronous traction motors which make the total locomotive efficiency increased from 85% to over 88%, so the locomotive operating efficiency is significantly improved.
