On September 21, 2017, "Renaissance" trains ran at a speed of 350km per hour on the Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Rail. On September 21, 2018, "Renaissance" trains first joined in the "Olympics of High-Speed Rail" and became the most striking existence.

The railway department has implemented "Renaissance brand strategies" in depth over the past year. The scope of operation of Renaissance trains has been expanded and the service quality has been improved constantly. Technological innovation has been advanced continuously and brand effect has become more prominent.

While fully considering the demand of passengers in provinces and cities for high-quality services of Renaissance trains, the railway department has expended the scope of operation constantly. 260.5 pairs of Renaissance EMUs are operated on national railways daily on average, covering 25 high-speed rail lines such as the Beijing-Shanghai HSR, Beijing-Guangzhou HSR and Shanghai-Kunming HSR and run to 23 municipalities directly under the central government, provincial capitals and capitals of autonomous regions. 16 long-formation Renaissance EMUs were put into operation on the Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway on July 1, 2018 and have been successively operated on lines such as the Beijing-Guangzhou HSR and Shanghai-Kunming HSR. The Hong Kong Section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong HSR will be put into operation on September 23, 2018. The inland high-speed rail network will extend to Hong Kong. Renaissance MUs will lead to Hong Kong Special Administration Region.

The railway department will organize manufacturing enterprises, scientific research institutions and universities for technological innovation of EMU positively based on market demands and the development trend of science and technology and develop series of independent and standard EMU products at different speed levels and adapting to different environmental requirements so as to consolidate the leading position of Chinese EMU technology and meet high-quality travel demands of the masses better. The development of intelligent Renaissance EMU with a speed of 350km per hour goes well. The prototype manufacturing and assembly of sample trains will be completed at the end of 2018 and the commissioning and test verification will be completed in 2019. The production of sample trains of Renaissance EMU with a speed of 250km per hour have been finished and early-stage preparations for type test are being made now. The design finalization of power concentration Renaissance EMU with a speed of 160km per hour has been basically completed. Another step is made towards mass production.
