On February 7, CJ-1 inter-city bullet train, independently developed by CRRC Tangshan Co., Ltd, underwent an in-plant refit and a low-temperature adaptive upgrade and officially served Northeast China, marking the first entry of a bullet train made by CRRC Tangshan into the alpine region and playing an important role in accumulating experiences gathered from complex environments for the company’s bullet train family platform.

CJ-1 is an inter-city bullet train independently developed by CRRC Tangshan; it is also its first market-oriented bullet train product. The trains, each including 8 cars, are equipped with advanced traction and braking systems. They have a projected speed of 250 kilometers per hour. The vehicles have a quick start-up speed, a short braking distance and are easily accessible. They are safe, comfortable, economic and environmentally-friendly. Their performance lives up to world standards.

As we all know, when high-speed bullet trains enter alpine areas, the aluminum, non-metallic, rubber and other raw materials that make up the train will become brittle and hard as the temperature drops, and the cold outside the vehicle will be transmitted through the body into the car.

To tackle these problems, designers at CRRC Tangshan specifically optimized the condensate water protective structure in the electrical system, replaced the junction box outside with a non-metallic one, increased drainage holes, and low temperature resistant connectors that meet IP68, the highest protective standards (the highest waterproof standard that a connector can meet) are arranged on the outsides of the train. Condensate water treatment technology has been applied to the piping system of the braking system, making it possible to drain condensate water timely.

The CJ-1 intercity bullet train, which has entered extremely cold northeastern China from less cold northern China, can run continuously in different climate zones and all seasons.

In the spring of 2017, the CJ-1 bullet train withstood the test and safely transported passengers for over 80,000 trips without any delay.
