Chief executive of Hongkong visited high-speed trains

On 9 July, Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, chief executive of the Hongkong Special Administrative Region, visited high-speed trains which just arrived in HongKong. She praised the trains for their comfort and reliability and said that the HongKong government and MTR will continue to develop high-speed railway projects and try to realize opening in the third quarter of 2018.

The high-speed trains were made by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co.,Ltd. Three trains have arrived in Hongkong. Other six trains will be delivered in next half year.

The total length of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-HongKong high-speed railway line is 140 km, of which the Hongkong section is 26 km long.

In 2012, CRRC Sifang was awarded the contract of supply nine 350km/h high-speed trains in international competitive bidding.
