On the morning of February 20, trainset 202 assigned for Mashhad metro line 2 slowly moved forward at station Shohada accompanied by clear and melodious chime, which initiated opening ceremony for commencement of revenue operation of Mashhad Metro Line 2. Chairman of Islamic Mosque Management Committee of Iran, Command-in-Chief of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Mr. Mortazavi, the mayor of Mashhad city, Keyamaz, the President of Mashhad Metro and top management of organizations involved with construction attended opening ceremony for commencement of revenue operations of first train. An Zhong Yi, the General Manager of CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles CO.,Ltd. and Zhou Chuan He, the Deputy General Manager of CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles CO.,Ltd. took part in relevant activities.
Mashhad Metro line 2 is equipped with 20 trains of configuration for 3 motor cars and 2 trailers, totally 100 cars. Maximum operation speed of the train is 80km/h. Maximum passenger capacity is around 1300 passengers. It is presumed this line will run north-south in downtown of Mashhad city in May 2017. Whole line is 13 km and crosses with line 1 nearby Shariati, which is already put into revenue operation.
At opening ceremony, Mr. Mortazavi, the mayor of Mashhad city of Iran delivered speech acknowledging that the company has performed terms of contract, secured commitment to both parties and made efforts to deliver vehicles for Mashhad metro line 2 ahead of time. He also expressed thankfulness to CRRC CRC who delivered premium vehicles for Mashhad, provided advanced design with elegant appearance and demonstrated excellence and charm of Chinese manufacture technology. All of these made excellent contribution to rail transit business in Mashhad.
At end of the ceremony, “turquoise” trainset 202 manufactured by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles CO.,Ltd. received first passengers, amongst which are religious groups, army and police, congressmen, top management of city government, journalists and local citizens. Started from two days ago, journalists of local major media already made announcement on opening ceremony and trial operations on 20th. During trial operation, important officials, journalists, religious groups and local citizens gave big applause for safe, comfort, clean, tidy, stable and reliable trains. “Our city is very congested and requires relief of pressure on traveling by rail transit. Such new train is spacious, with more functions and very excellent. We appreciate that Chinese friends bring such comfortable trains to us”. Local citizens were very excited and expressed their mood to journalists. “Hobe Kina” in Persian means “Good Job, China”.
