Someone said, if you have not taken the "Mountain Mini-train", shuttling through the tea garden, you have not traveled in Sri Lanka exactly. Today, as tourists from all over the world experience the Mini-train of Sri Lanka, they will take the new trains from China.
Recently, the new-type Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) (S14) developed by CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd. has started to run on the mountain line in Sri Lanka, and has been officially put into passenger transport operation.
On account of high altitude, large slope and short turning radius, the mountain line of Sri Lanka has higher requirements on all performance of trains. At present, all of these DMUs running on the line are designed and manufactured by CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd.
The newly-launched S14 DMUs are the fourth batch of DMUs provided by CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd. for Sri Lanka.
The upgraded carriage facilities on the new train bring passengers a more comfortable train-taking experience. Air-conditioning seat cars have been added, and the facilities such as LCD TVs, power sockets, adjustable seats, headset jacks, and multifunctional toilets have been provided in the coach.
After the train was launched, many local people in Sri Lanka came to experience it purposely.
The newest S14 DMU consists of 9 trains, and the first of them has been put into service, but the rest 8 trains will successively arrive in Sri Lanka at the end of this year and the early next year.
